Domesticated Animals (2020)

As social conditions under the pandemic mutate and complexify, Five Years presents a new work of bio-political live art by
Emma Starkey and Robin Woodward.

Domesticated Animals attempts to erode the lines between the gallery and the domestic, social and biological spheres. Two animals can be seen in a faux domestic setting: flat washing machine, oven and door. Elevated upon white abodes, stripped of everything including clothes, the two figures navigate their spaces divided by a golden ocean of tacks.

Viewers are able to tune in anytime during the 24/7 stream to see how the animals interact when devoid of technological distractions and physical comforts. The exhibition stages an interrogation into human behaviour while in isolation.
